Unlike metal components, which wear as abrasive particles are dragged across their relatively “soft” surfaces, ceramic components tend to last longer due to their much harder properties. Parts like cyclones, elbows, and transition areas where abrasive wear from streams that strike surfaces at acute angles and not head on, should be made from cast ceramic shapes, and not cast iron or NiHard.
